DIY Sharpie Love Pillows

Today I wrote on my pillows with a sharpie! It was a spur of the moment decision and I just went for it. Took me all of maybe 60 seconds?

I was quite proud of the hubby, because he noticed as soon as he came in from shoveling...and even better, he didn't realize it was me who did it! He asked, "When do you get that love pillow?"  Well, dear, it was the same boring cheap pillows we got some Target and I decided to draw on them! :)
DIY Sharpie Love Pillows

All you need are some plain pillows and a sharpie!
Draw on pillows with a sharpie!
I did the "Love" pillow first and first did it in pen. Not sure why, because it's not like I would have been able to erase it if it didn't go well, I would have to trace over it with the sharpie anyway. So don't bother with that step!! However, if you have pillows like mine, like mirco-fiberish, then they leave little lines when you touch it, so you can test it out with the closed sharpie cap first and then go for it.

Don't you just love them? I do! They make me happy. So much cuter than they were before.

What would you do with a sharpie and a pillow?

Our Honeymoon Scrapbook

I decided to scan in my Honeymoon scrapbook and since I have it on my computer of course I'm going to share with all of you! :) My cousin Tara gave me the album and I loved it because the pages were already designed / coordinated but still gave room for creativity with stickers. However, I usually journal more in my scrapbooks, but since this one didn't have the room I skipped most of that...still sometimes think of writing things in anyway, but a picture tells a thousand words, or something like that, right?

We had a "cheap" honeymoon. I bad at spending money and didn't want to feel guilty about our honeymoon. Main goal: to relax, enjoy each other, and celebrate our marriage (and the fact that wedding plans were now over forever!!) We borrowed a Florida house with a pool and convertible for a week. It was awesome! And the people who stayed there before we did got it all honeymoon-ready for us, including a completely stocked fridge and freezer plus a cake!

Without further to do...my scrapbook. ENJOY!

400 Follower Giveaway!!!!

Hello friends and followers! (if you're a follower - you're a friend) It's finally here - the long awaited 400 follower giveaway (okay, more like 450...but it jumped so fast what could I do!) :) Thanks so much for being a part of this blog and making me feel so loved. You guys are the best!

So enough with the mushy stuff - let me show you what I'm giving away!
So, yes, it's quite a collection of my favorite and extremely random things.

1) Yellow Bubble Necklace: I LOVE bubble necklaces, and yellow is such a fun and bright color! This necklace is a fake J-Crew from eBay (it even says J-Crew on the clasp but I'm quite sure it is not real)

2) TWO Julep Sparkly nail polishes: I love getting my Julep boxes in the mail each month. They also make them so fun adding little surprises with my nail polish / beauty products. You can get your first box for FREE (just pay shipping which was $4 for me).

3) Three of my DIY hair ties: If you want to make your own see my how-to tutorial here!

4) Jelly Bellies: I went to the Jelly Belly factory this past summer and it was a blast! Love these :)

5) Ghirardelli: Well, just because everyone loves chocolate and I love Ghirardelli. Check out the drinks I made using their chocolate syrup!

6) Hand Sanitizer: I am a special education teacher, and as any teacher knows, it's always a good idea to keep some hand sanitizer nearby and this one can go right on a lanyard or purse.

Go ahead and enter via Rafflecopter below. You get a freebie entry just for being here if you are following in SOME way - YAY! :) And then since this giveaway is to celebrate my followers, grab an extra entry for each way you follow me.

Giveaway will be for one week and ends on Saturday, February 23.

Unique Valentine's Day Superhero Card

So Valentine's Day is coming up! Already!!

My husband and I don't celebrate Valentine's Day too much in the form of gifts but we usually still like to do something fun and thoughtful. And we have a weakness for Giordano's deep dish pizza and when it come in the shape of a heart...well, I just can't pass that up!! Yumm

Last year, all I gave him was a card. I didn't want to just get him a card, so I tried to make it unique.

I used poster board and superhero candies from the dollar store to put together this superhero over-sized card. I'm not saying it's the best or super clever - but if you're looking for something fun to do, maybe this will spark a creative idea?

Not too bad for a homemade card, right? And did you get my clever moment with the hulk and spiderman?

Let me know if you are doing anything special and maybe I'll steal your idea (because I haven't come up with anything yet!!)

Plato's Closet $1 Clearance

One of my favorite times of the year...

Plato's Closet $1 clearance event!
Plato's Closet $1 Clearance Sale
Do you see all of that clothing?? 19 items for $20.66 (high Illinois tax...)

I got 2 coats, 2 pairs of jeans, 10 sweaters, and 5 shirts. Some of the brands include Big Star, H&M, American Eagle, LOFT, J Crew, GAP, Forever 21 and others. I was most excited about the Big Star jeans. I didn't even look at the size and they fit perfectly! (My store does not let anyone try on items during this sale.) Those would have cost me at least $70 in a "real" store and were marked for $40 to sell at Plato's before they went on clearance. They are my favorite brand of jeans!

Check out your Plato's Closet and see if/when they do their clearance event. My store does it in the winter and the summer each year.

So excited to wear my new clothes!

If you've never gone to this event before, let me warn you, it gets a little crazy, because well, people are crazy! My recommendation: become one of those crazy people (just a little!) - grab first and think later. So if you see something that you think it cute, grab it. Later, when your arms are getting tired find a corner and go through what you have. That is when you get a chance to look at sizes, check for damages (like holes or broken zippers), and decide whether or not you really think what you grabbed is cute or not!

Have fun! I hope you'll be able to go to one too!

I'm a Guest Host - Weekend Meet & Greet Blog Hop #12

Hi everyone! I was so excited to be chosen as a guest host for this awesome blog hop, so be sure to link up and answer their question of the week!

Weekend Meet & Greet Blog Hop #12  It's time to Meet & Greet...

Welcome back to Meet & Greet Blog Hop! Join in, meet some fellow bloggers, greet them with comments, and grow your blog with new friends!

Meet Everyone!
This week’s fun question is: What story does your family always tell about you?

*Hosts*

Kim - from 2 just B you: Uuummmmm....I don't know. If they're telling stories about me, they're not telling them to me. I have no idea!

Laurie - from Created By Laurie: I have very long and thick eyelashes that I got from my Father. People always comment on them. When I was in early Elementary school I didn’t appreciate them and got annoyed with the comments so I cut them off! When my Dad heard he laughed his butt off. Turned out he did the same thing roughly the same age for the same reason! He still laughs about it.

*Co Host*

Ann Marie – from Moanas Unique Designs: My family luvs to tell the story of my bangs. When I was young, my Dad would sit me up on the counter to cut my bangs. Being a pilot, he was very precise. He'd trim...look...and say..."not quite straight"...trim some more..."not quite straight"...by the time he was done...my bangs would be so short, I was all forehead...

*Featured Guest* - That's me!

Brie - from Breezy Pink Daisies: Along with way too many stories about my "clumsy" phase in my middle school years, my Dad loves to tell a story of when I was about 2 or 3 years old (much cuter, not so clumsy) and we were shopping at Wal-mart. Apparently, I really wanted to go sit on the top bunk of the display bunkbed, but my Dad told me, "Don't count on it." I said, "I promise Daddy, I won't count it on." And since I didn't start counting, he just had to let me sit up there. (Lucky little me, too bad my middle school self missed out on that same cuteness!)

What story does your family always tell about you?
