Burlap Bubble Wedding Wreaths

How adorable are these burlap wreaths? My friend Melissa will be using them in her wedding this October. I had so much fun helping her make these yesterday (we were both enjoying our Spring Break - yay for having teacher friends to hang out with during break!). She is a very creative one!

We cut each strip 5 inches wide and the entire length of the burlap we had. Melissa taught me a sweet way to cut burlap. After measuring, she pulled a string from the burlap, bunched the burlap up, and then when she pulled it back down, there was a nice straight line to cut on.

We used jewelry wire to fasten the burlap onto the wreath, and continued bunching and fastening around the ring. Here's it after round one:

 Continue until you cover the entire thing. And...

(see those spaces in between the burlap bubbles, we fixed those with some hot gun magic)

We added letters to spell out "I DO" since she is using these for her wedding, but with some other decorations, it would look great in a house! In fact...I'm thinking about making one for myself. We'll see :)

Engagement Ring Sugar Cookies

I have a new great respect for decorative sugar cookies. They are difficult to make! :) I made these engagement ring cookies for my sister-in-law, Lindsey's engagement party. (Remember the engagement cake I made for her?)

They are not perfect, but I'm still proud of them!

I used this sugar cookie recipe on Tasty Kitchen from I Am Baker (made 36 cookies, even with me snacking on the dough!)

And I got some help on royal frosting from Cake Journal. Argh. First off - a little black goes a long way. Piping and flooding was hard! I started out that way for the band part and then just started spreading it on the cookie. HA! But I did pipe {most} of the designs on the "diamond".

Also, I had bought fancy "shimmer" for the ring, but it didn't really sparkle...so I improvised. What did I use instead? SUGAR! Duh - don't know why I didn't think of that first! Sugar is super sparkly and way cheaper than buying a bottle of edible sparkles!

I {think} everyone liked them and I know they tasted good! :)

Our First Dance - Wedding Picture Frame

I can't believe that it was almost a year ago (June 11) that Kevin and I were married! My mom gave me this adorable matted picture of our first dance. She had written the lyrics to the song we danced to - "Come What May." However, she admitted that it didn't turn out like she hoped and recommended that I try to fix it! :)

 

So I downloaded a fun handwriting font from Kevin&Amanda and formatted the lyrics in Word. I had to cut out a hole for the picture, and my lines weren't too straight, but I figured it was good enough for now!

  

And...I love it! And what a great way to remember our first dance together as husband and wife! :) And, if you missed it, here's the album page layout of our first dance! You can see our wedding album here.

The Guestbook Table

I am so excited because I just got pictures from the guestbook table from my wedding! My cousin was the guestbook attendant, and we had the guestbook at the reception hall, not the church! 

 

 (That's my sister - the junior bridesmaid, next to my cousin, writing on her guestbook page. Isn't she so cute!?!)

 

And my ADORABLE little flower girl (with a lollypop from the candy table) and my aunt at the guestbook table.

In case you missed my earlier posts, I made my own guestbook pages (and the sign/poem to go with it) giving my guests rooms to write a sweet little note and space to add a picture of them from the night. I just LOVE how it turned out!

My DIY Wedding Programs

Here's the programs we used for my wedding, I wanted pretty and cheap wedding programs. And I printed about 200 programs for about $10 total.

 

I got thick white card stock paper from Joann's with 40% off coupons. Then, I went to my college to print them off because my good friend Liz had extra prints left, and we didn't want those to go to waste! (we had 300 prints to use a year). I had to put them through the manual feed and print about 10 at a time - I think it took about an hour, but it was free! (and there was hardly anyone else in the computer lab since it was summer break!) Yes, I will do just about anything to save money where I can!!

I brought them back to my college house and my lucky roommate and bridesmaid Sarah was home so she had the privilege of folding the programs in half. I had a box of pink paper flowers that I had gotten at Michael's a few months back that I glued on each program, and then I added one of my jewels from my huge jewel bucket from Hobby Lobby! 

I love bejeweling things!!

Wedding Guestbook Sign and Poem

Last week I posted my photo/journal wedding guestbook - hope you had a chance to look at it!

Here's the Guestbook sign / poem that I created to put up at the table.

 So I was very creative the couple of nights before my wedding - I think it was because I didn't have a lot of time to think, I just had to do! Here's our little Wedding Guestbook Poem:

Wedding Photo Guestbook

DIY Photo/Journal Wedding Guestbook

Today I'm going to share with you my Wedding Guestbook. It was awesome, and so not normal (I love not being normal!) I wanted something fun, something I would want to look through in the future. I loved the ones by the Guestbook Store...but didn't want to pay that much for one - and I wanted a place for our guests to put their own picture. Here's what the expensive one from the Guestbook Store looks like:

So, I created my own pages to be printed off on an 8x8 piece of paper that guests would fill out. They had a spot to write their name, how they knew us, and anything else that they wanted to say. There was also a place for their picture. Here's what mine looked like:

I printed my pages on colorful thick paper that I had gotten on clearance at Michael's because at the time, white just seemed so boring! White would have been a cheaper choice though, as all the refill page protectors came with white sheets in them anyway!

So guests stopped by the guestbook table at the reception and filled out a page! I love how it turned out! Our photographer had a booth set up later in the night where (most) guests got their picture taken to be added in the book later.

I got the scrapbook at Michael's with a 40% off coupon. I also got extra pages with 40% off coupons! I don't have an exact price, but I'll give you an estimate

Wedding Items from VistaPrint!

Today I noticed VistaPrint is having one of their "everything's FREE" sales again - and I started to remember all of the cool things that I made for our wedding using VistaPrint!

First, to begin with, I made Save the Date postcards. I believe this cost me about $3.50 (in shipping) for 100 postcards! And I got to use one of our super cute pictures!

I used the postcards again to create our RSVPs to go with our invitations. I was planning on saving money on stamps by using postcards...but then I forgot to stamp the postcards anyway...haha, they still all made it back to us!

And I thought the back of the RSVP was fun! I enjoyed giving people a spot to write something fun - made them more fun to get back too!

And for the wedding invitations, I created address labels that had the same picture that we used for our Save the Date cards!

And of course I made a lot of fun things too, including calendars with all of our engagement pictures, and just recently with all our of wedding pictures!

I've also made countless gifts on VistaPrint as well! On one of my orders I got a wall calendar, a mug, a tote, business cards, and sticky notes for just $6.89 shipped!!!

My DIY Wedding Card Album

So today I saw something on pinterest...and actually completed the project today! I'm usually not that on top of it! Check out my wedding card mini album totally copied from inspired by Something Turquoise!

So, for the last 5 months my wedding cards have been sitting in this lovely basket. I didn't know what to do with them! It's not like I could just throw them out - there are so many beautiful ones in there and some really nice notes from friends and family.

 

See! We got a TON of cards! What am I supposed to do with them all? Well, thank you wedding card album idea!

So, I went through and found the largest card. I then cut out some cardboard (from a cereal box) just a little bit larger than the larger card.

 

I then decorated the front of my album (you'll see this in the final pictures!)

The back I covered with solid sliver paper and attached the ribbon (leave plenty of room on both sides of the ribbon to make sure they are long enough) with two small brads.

Next, comes the hole punching. Thankfully Pysch was on while I was punching all of these cards so it didn't seem too awful. I punched one card and then marked where the circle should go on the rest so I could make sure they would all be even.

I tried to put them on a ring, but only about half of them fit, so I used some ribbon instead of an album ring. It works great as well!

The flower are ones that I have leftover from our $10 wedding programs. I attached 3 of them together with a silver brad. I had to add a picture - because I'm obsessed with pictures!The K and B were stickers I got from Pier1 - and the "+" sign is actually the pieces that came from the inside of the B!

LOVE! If you have any questions please ask! If you make one PLEASE share! I think I'll make these for the rest of my life. Just think - what a wonderful way this will be to store Christmas cards over the years. (And there won't be as many Christmas cards as wedding cards so it will be even easier!)

Wedding: DIY Mr. and Mrs. signs

So the night before my wedding (seriously, at like midnight) I decided I really wanted DI Y Mr. and Mrs. signs at our head table. I used supplies that I had on hand to make these signs for NO COST.

I had two pink signs framed with hearts (bought at Michaels on mega clearance after Valentine's Day by my Father-in-law) that I painted white. (Sorry, I don't have any pictures of the progress!)

Then I picked a font that I like and typed Mr. and Mrs. on my computer. I then free-handed it (the visual helped though - is that still free-handing?) using the opposite thin end of my paintbrush - it helped me actually make it look neat! I work best under pressure!

I then went to sleep and got a good night's rest! :) I brought the signs with me to the church the next morning where my girls and I got ready.

My dear friend and bridesmaid Elizabeth bejeweled my signs while we were getting ready in the morning with my favorite never ending supply of jewels I picked up at Hobby Lobby.

Love my jewels! And love my signs. I'm so happy with how they turned out - our table would have been so boring without them!

Like them? AHH! I loved them - sometimes the little things make the biggest difference! :)
